  Established in 2002 by Rekha and Prashant Lahoti Kalakriti Art Gallery since then has become a veritable name in the field of Modern and Contemporary Indian art. Through its various seminal art events and spectacularly mounted exhibitions the gallery has consistently pushed the envelope in the field of Indian art. Ranging from historic figures like Raja Ravi Varma M.V. Dhurandhar C.G. Ramanujam Balakrishna Pant Anant Desai to iconic Modern Masters like Abanindranath and Gaganendranath Tagore to post-independence luminaries like M.F. Husain F.N. Souza Ram Kumar Krishen Khanna K.G. Subramanyan S.H. Raza Ganesh Pyne to contemporary trailblazers like Jogen Chowdhury Nalini Malani Neekima Sheikh Anju Dodiya Atul Dodiya G.R. In order to stay abreast with the ever evolving world of Contemporary Indian art the gallery has consistently partnered with leading curators and scholars like Ranjit Hoskote Nancy Adajania William Dalrymple Kavita Singh Alka Pande Jyotirmaya Sharma and so many others who had shared their knowledge with the people of Hyderabad over the years. In an effort to un-brand arts and do away with the elitist label Kalakriti Art Gallery has always looked beyond the pre-defined values associated with certain kinds of art which is why the gallery prides itself being home to a great collection of traditional and indigenous art such as Pichwais Gond art Saura art while housing possibly one of country’s biggest collection of 19th century oleograpghs embellished and chromolithographs. Kalakriti Art Gallery regularly organises workshops panel discussion film screenings that are centered around art. The gallery actively ventures into collaborative programmes with Alliance Francaise Goethe Zentrum University of Hyderabad etc. and has participated in major art events in India. The gallery has also been at the helm of major public art installations in the city of Hyderabad including the STREET ART PROJECT IKEA India Underpass Mosiaic Mural project IKEA India Median sculpture project I LOVE HYDERABAD installation etc…
